Daugherty & Company, PLLC

About Daugherty & Company, PLLC

After spending over seventeen years in corporate accounting, including senior levels of management in large companies, Tommy Daugherty felt a strong desire to establish a CPA firm that was specifically designed to meet the needs of small business owners based on his “inside” experience.

Tommy Daugherty, CPA CMA

With over thirty years of experience, Tommy, a 1983 Graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, began work after graduation in a regional company and during the next seventeen years worked in jobs with larger companies and increasing levels of responsibility. In all positions he made substantial improvements to business operations and set up controls, checks and balances that improved the efficiency of the company. In 1998, Tommy was part of the start-up team of a large contractor in Oak Ridge, tasked with the responsibility of bringing up the accounting system to full operation within three months. All expectations were met at the start-up and the decision was made to offer his skills to private industry as a private CPA practitioner.

During thirteen years of practice, the firm has enjoyed steady growth and success, enjoyed the pleasure and challenge of a diverse client base, including the largest scientific instruments company in the world headquartered in Boston as well as several technology based start-ups in the Oak Ridge area.

Tommy’s approach is that of a “business advocate”, in that the business should be treated in a professional manner and as an investment. The business strategy should be one that improves the value of the company in the long-term.
